My new friend: Up-Do Pins

Oh man, it’s Day 10 and my hair is one thick mess of dirt, sweat, and grease.  After I got done running my fingers through my hair this morning to distribute that healthy “emollient” to the ends, after my run, after working all day, I decided to play with my hair.  I wasn’t too happy with how it turned out today so I was ready for something different.

Call me old-fashioned, but I still like to look nice when Mr. Hair Care comes home from work.  I don’t know why, we’ve been married for 20 years and I could be naked and he would walk right by me without a flicker of the eye (his eyebrow might waggle though).  No, it’s more about me and how I feel.  He’s just my deadline.

I tried a whole bunch of new looks with my new hair toys but nothing was really clicking so I decided to use my Up-Do pins to pull the front part back, with the back hanging down.  But then I kept going, and going, and going.

And I ended up with this super fun look that’s comfortable and modern in the sorta classy, sorta casual way that’s popular right now.

And I did it all with my Up-Do pins.  I just love, love, love them!

Photo Shoot Prep

Day 9: I was driving home from an appointment today and all of a sudden it hit me.  Walgreens!  I’m not sure why I was struck by this thought since I had no business going to Walgreens.  I didn’t need anything.  I wanted something.  So I had to create an excuse, a reason, a purpose to justify my desire to cruise the Walgreen aisles.

And what does a Hair Care Girl use as her driving force to justification?  Hair stuff of course!  Most notably “Spin Pins”.  Spin Pins are made by Goody so you can be assured they are over priced and may or may not work.  But.  I’ve been looking at them for months and each time I walk away proclaiming, “I will NOT spend $6.49 on something like that!!”

Until today.

Today I urgently needed to buy those Spin Pins and try them out.

So I bought them.  And…Up Do Pins

…they work great in my daughter’s hair. *sigh*

But I found something else that I’m really excited about.  They are these things called “Up Do Pins”.  These totally ROCK and they’re going to work great not only for my hair but also my two daughters’ hair too.  A triple win in my book!

So after I realized just how cute my hair looked I grabbed my oldest away from her Calculus homework to take my picture. (How’s that for good parenting?)

But first I had to make sure I had enough mascara on since it always wears off by the end of the day and my “photographer” sneaked snapped a shot.  (Remind me to check my eye brows next time too please.  Jeez!)

Mascara? Check!

Obviously this was not a planned shot and as you can see we didn’t exactly pick up our bathroom today.  And please don’t look at that roll of toilet paper on the counter.  We’re loathe to put it on the holder because nobody can reach the dispenser.  And we’re lazy.

I’m wearing the hair pins in the “getting ready” picture above and I’m also wearing them in the first picture in this post.  This is what it looks like from the back.

Remember, this is Day 9 and I was not planning on wearing my hair down but I was going to meet a friend for coffee so I put a little more effort into it than normal.  I curled the ends ended up pulling it up anyway.

Until I found my new Up-Do Pins!
